About Sister-to-Sister Support Group Training

Mission
The mission of the Sister to Sister Support Ministry leadership training is to equip and train faith leaders on how to facilitate faith-based recovery/support groups for Christian women who have experienced trauma.
Purpose
The purpose of Sister to Sister Support groups is to provide safe, confidential, nonjudgmental places for Christian women to be able to share their stories and find support, encouragement, friendship and fellowship.
Why a Support Group?
Support groups raise awareness of options available to survivors through:
· Solving problems
· Providing information
· Empowering victims
· Raising self-esteem
· Developing support networks
· Facilitating healing
· …And a Threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NKJV)

Group Structure
Groups will provide an opportunity for women:
- to share freely about their experiences,
- to network with other women,
- to hear from experts and advocates in the field,
- to understand the power and healing effects of journaling.
- to find and experience inner peace,
- to receive spiritual healing
- to learn how to use and apply scriptures from the Bible for comfort, support and encouragement and
- to navigate their way back to a place of wholeness.
Training Components
I. Trauma Defined
II. Effects of trauma (Crisis of faith, Spiritual disruption)
III. Impact of traumatic experiences (child abuse, societal violence, sexual abuse, domestic violence)
IV. Overview of ways to meet the spiritual needs of trauma victims (Scriptures that offer hope and healing, Coping strategies, and Dealing with unresolved issues)
V. Strategies for conducting successful groups - (Establishing guidelines, Delegating, Creating safe spaces)
VI. Tackling the Hard Questions e.g. - (Where was God? & Why didn’t God do something to prevent this?)
VII. Role playing and application of skills
VIII. Action planning.
